Other Community legislation that is relevant to toy safety, apart from the more specific toy safety legislation, includes the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) 2001/95, which applies in a complementary manner to specific sectoral legislation.
The Commission has drafted a guide to the practical application of the GPSD in areas where specific sector legislation exists. This guidance document (first chapter) provides guidance on the application of the GPSD for toys.

• Directive 1999/5/EC Radio- and tele-terminal equipment (R&TTE) Revised by Directive 2014/53 on radio equipment (applicable as of June 2016)
• Directive 2004/108/EC on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) – Revised by Directive 2014/30/EU on Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) (applicable as of 20 April 2016)
• Directive 2006/66/EC Batteries and accumulators - Amended by Directive 2013/56 on cadmium and mercury in batteries (applying as of 1st July 2015)
• Directive 2006/95/EC on Low voltage electrical equipment - Revised by Directive 2014/35/EU on Low voltage electrical equipment (applicable as of 20 April 2016)
