Building on the previous year’s successful participation, Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) continued to promote the value of play during the 2005 International Toy Fair in Nürnberg. The Nürnberg Toy Fair is considered to be one of the key events for the toy industry. What better venue to highlight the important contributions toys and play make to children’s development.
Thomas Eichhorn, Chairman of TIE, was invited as a keynote speaker at the opening press conference on 3 February. During his speech he highlighted the legislative threats the toy industry is facing from Brussels and the actions TIE is taking to defend the toy industry specifically in the areas of advertising and marketing, international trade, and toy safety regulations. Mr. Eichhorn also spoke of TIE’s proactive work in promoting the value of play and the important contribution of toys and play to children’s psychological, physical and social development.
The Nürnberg Toy Fair also provided an opportunity to discuss key issues for the toy sector with other associations such as the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) and the Toy Traders of Europe (TTE).
TIE’s new image was prominently displayed at the organisation's stand. Located in the foyer of Hall 12, the TIE booth was visited by many existing member companies and national associations as well as non-member companies interested in learning more about the benefits of joining the organisation.
