About Toy Industries of Europe
TIE is the trade association for the European toy industry. TIE provides a unique source of information both for and on the toy industry in Europe. TIE is proud of the contributions made by toys and play to society.
Founded in 1991, TIE has been working at the heart of Europe for two decades.
At present membership includes nine direct member companies and most national toy associations, representing approximately 80% of European toy sales. With over €5 billion in annual sales in Europe and €50 billion globally, the toy industry is robust, fast-paced and highly competitive. It is also one of the most dynamic business sectors in Europe with 60% of toys representing new products on the market each year.
TIE works to promote the value of toys and play in the psychological, physical and social development of children and to raise awareness of the positive role that toys play in society.
TIE offers its members a platform for discussing issues that are central to the toy sector. TIE also provides its members with information and advice on legislative developments and challenges to the industry. Throughout the European legislative process, TIE is devoted to promoting technical and economic progress in the toy industry to the ultimate benefit of consumers.
TIE strictly respects the principle that each member must take its own strategic business decisions. At the same time, TIE is dedicated to helping members keep abreast of industry developments in order to let each member make better informed individual choices. We support industry developments which bring efficient solutions enhancing product quality and variety.
We educate our members on compliance with safety, quality and ethical manufacturing standards and we lead public initiatives to educate consumers about safe play.
TIE's objectives include ensuring that only safe toys are put on the market, that these toys have been ethically manufactured, that IPR rights in the broadest sense are respected, and that all commercial communications around toys are responsible.
TIE has established itself as the authoritative voice of the industry and a partner for dialogue with European and international policymakers and other stakeholders.
